The chair is focusing on fundamental and applied research in fields of geomechanics and geotechnics.

 Numerical methods in Geomechanics and Geotechnics:

  • Coupled hybrid models, Boundary-Element-Modelling,
  • Soil-structure-interface and constitutive modelling
  • Cyclic system / macro modeling for complex soil-structure-conditions and loads
  • Transient THM behaviour and thermal desiccation processes

Cyclic loaded material behaviour, Granular behaviour & Material design:

  • Cyclic thermo-hydro-mechanical loaded geomaterial and heat geostorages
  • Cyclic loaded, sustainable geomaterial / earth structures
  • Geotechnial design processes under cyclic loads

Identification, Material characterization and process Monitoring:

  • Material characterization by geophysical  & advanced geotechnical methods
  • Coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical process monitoring
